Reinke E3 Center Pivot Wins Innovation Award

Reinke’s E3 Pivot Wins “Irrigation Innovation of the Year” in 2026 AgTech Breakthrough Awards

Posted on September 7, 2026September 6, 2026 by Farm News Daily

The Reinke E3 center pivot has won “Irrigation Innovation of the Year” in the 2026 AgTech Breakthrough Awards, and growers have good reason to take notice. Reinke Manufacturing, based in Deshler, Nebraska, announced the award on Aug. 24, 2026. The recognition puts a spotlight on a machine built to help farmers stretch every drop of water while chasing better yields.

The 7th annual AgTech Breakthrough Awards honor innovators driving sustainable solutions across the global agricultural and food technology markets. Reinke stood out in a crowded field. As a result, the E3 now carries one of the industry’s most visible endorsements for smart, water-conscious design.

Why the Reinke E3 Center Pivot Stands Out

Reinke built the E3 to answer a problem every grower knows well. Water is precious, and uneven application wastes it. Therefore, the company engineered the system to deliver consistent, efficient watering across many different field conditions.

The patented design sets a new bar for accuracy, reliability and efficiency in mechanized irrigation. Because it applies water uniformly along the entire length of the machine, it helps fields perform more evenly. Additionally, the E3 exceeds USDA Center Pivot Evaluation and Design water uniformity benchmarks, a widely used standard for measuring how evenly a pivot spreads water.

The E3 is also the first precision series of spans and end booms with uniform coupler spacing in 30- and 60-inch intervals. That spacing is the key to even coverage from one end to the other. For growers, that means fewer dry spots and fewer overwatered patches.

Precision Features Behind the Award

The E3 includes several advancements that improve stability and performance across terrain. First, precision system configurations offer spans from 80 to 220 feet in 20-foot increments, including the popular 175-foot option. Inverted truss end booms range from 10 to 110 feet, giving growers flexible fits for many field shapes.

Meanwhile, the ReinLock anti-racking truss system delivers superior strength and a consistent span crown, even in tough field conditions. Furthermore, exclusive Reinke V-ring seals maintain flow without reduction, which supports powerfully precise watering. Together, these features explain why judges singled out the machine.

“Innovation only matters when it solves a real problem for growers,” said Chris Roth, president of Reinke. “E3 was designed from the ground up to give growers precision control over their water application; setting a new standard for how irrigation systems perform in the field. To be recognized with an AgTech Breakthrough Award affirms what our team set out to build—equipment that helps growers maximize yield potential while conserving one of their most valuable resources.”

What the AgTech Breakthrough Award Recognizes

The AgTech Breakthrough Awards program aims to recognize innovators reshaping food and farm production through technology. For example, past honorees span precision agriculture platforms, farm management software, AI-driven yield forecasting, and soil and water sensing tools. These breakthroughs help agricultural companies operate more sustainably and feed a growing global population.

Judges praised the way Reinke rethought a familiar machine. “Some of the most consequential innovation in agriculture is in the hardware that has defined a category for decades, quietly re-engineered to do its core job better,” said Bryan Vaughn, managing director, AgTech Breakthrough. “Reinke stood out for rethinking the center pivot itself, engineering uniform water application into the structure of the machine rather than treating it as an add-on. E3 is a deserving winner of our 2026 ‘Irrigation Innovation of the Year’ award.”

Availability and What Comes Next for Growers

The Reinke E3 center pivot is now available to growers across the United States and Canada. Additional markets will open as the system rolls out worldwide. Consequently, more farmers should gain access to the technology in the months ahead.

Reinke has a long track record in this space. Family-owned since 1954, the company is the world’s largest privately held manufacturer of center pivot and lateral move irrigation systems, with hundreds of dealers in more than 40 countries. Moreover, it was the first to bring GPS, satellite-based communications and touchscreen panel controls to mechanized irrigation.

The award, announced through a Reinke press release, signals where irrigation is heading. Growers face rising pressure to do more with less water, and precision matters more each season. As a result, the Reinke E3 center pivot offers a clear example of how thoughtful engineering can protect resources while supporting stronger yields. Farmers watching the technology should track how the global rollout unfolds and how the system performs across varied fields.
