National Ag Finance Launches Instant Pre-Qualification Engine for Farm Loans

Posted on September 17, 2026September 18, 2026 by Farm News Daily

National Ag Finance launched a new instant pre-qualification engine on Sept. 8, giving farmers and ranchers faster access to long-term agricultural real estate loans. The Colorado-based lender says the tool delivers a decision within minutes instead of weeks. Producers answer a few questions online about their property and financing needs. The company built the instant pre-qualification engine to help farmers move quickly as rural bank consolidation limits their choices within the broader agribusiness sector. National Ag says the goal is speed without losing the personal touch farmers expect.

Why Farmers Need Faster Loan Decisions

Rural banking has changed fast in recent years. According to a 2025 analysis from the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association, the number of commercial banks offering farm loans dropped nearly 40% between 2003 and 2022. Because those local lenders are disappearing, many farmers have fewer places to turn when they need financing, a shift with real agriculture policy implications for rural communities.

National Ag says its new tool gives producers another path forward. “Farmers shouldn’t have to wait weeks to know if they can invest in their business or secure their land,” said Josh Mitchey, CEO of National Ag. Instead, the company built the platform so producers can act quickly while keeping their existing bank relationships.

How the Instant Pre-Qualification Engine Works

The process starts online. Applicants share basic details about their property, the loan amount they need, and which loan product interests them. Additionally, the system checks that information against more than 20 loan programs at once through agriculture technology built specifically for lending.

Applicants then receive an on-screen decision along with an email confirmation. Meanwhile, a regional loan specialist reaches out to walk them through the options that fit their operation best. Those options include long-term fixed-rate loans, Farmer Mac-eligible loans, and FSA-guaranteed loans backed by the U.S. Farm Service Agency.

National Ag’s loan menu covers more than 20 products, including fixed-rate loans with terms up to 30 years, variable-rate loans, and interest-only options. Farmers can use them for real estate purchases, refinancing, debt consolidation, and cash-out transactions. For example, cash-out financing can fund farm expansion, equipment purchases, land improvements, or succession and partner buyouts.

Furthermore, none of National Ag’s loan programs carry prepayment penalties. As a result, borrowers have room to refinance, sell property, or pay down debt whenever their situation changes.

Combining Technology With Regional Ag Expertise

Company leaders say speed doesn’t have to come at the cost of personal service. “Technology should make the process faster and clearer, not less personal,” said Ashley Seeley, chief operating officer of National Ag. “We combine technology with real agricultural experience so producers can get answers quickly and work with people who understand their operation.”

Seeley added that farmers have adapted to new technology for years. Consequently, lenders need to keep pace, and National Ag pairs its online engine with regionally focused loan specialists who understand local markets and crops.

What the Instant Pre-Qualification Engine Means for Producers

The launch of the instant pre-qualification engine gives farmers and ranchers another financing option at a time when local ag lenders are harder to find. For producers facing tight planting or land-purchase deadlines, a faster decision can matter as much as the loan terms themselves. Finally, farmers considering an application should watch how the tool performs alongside traditional bank financing in the months ahead.
